Reel Sportswear grew out of a small company that started out making shirts for local fishermen. Our values reflect those of a business started by a group of avid fishermen, and the minimalist style they promoted. The approach we take towards product design demonstrates a bias for simplicity and utility. The cornerstone belief that family, friends & community bind our industry together has been an essential part of our success. Staying true to our core values during 4 years in business has helped us create a company we're proud to run and work for. And our focus on making the best products possible has brought us success in the marketplace.

OUR MISSION

Build the best product, promote the conservation of marine resources, use business to inspire and influence on our family, friends and our community.

Science-driven Solutions

The Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an interdisciplinary research institute whose work revolves around The Harte Model - connecting science with policy, people, and economics in the Gulf of Mexico region, within the United States and internationally. Our ten research areas work collaboratively on issues facing the Gulf and support the education and mentorship for graduate students to become future Gulf leaders. Why focus on the Gulf? With its diverse habitats and an economic engine producing energy and food to fuel a nation, the Gulf can be a laboratory to find the balance between economic and environmental health - a sustainable balance that benefits both us and future generations.

The idea for the Texas State Aquarium was conceptualized by its founders early on to focus on the species in the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea. The exhibits would contain representatives of the area's main marine ecosystems. The Gulf of Mexico opened in 1990 with a commencement from former President Bush speaking to a front lawn packed full of supporting visitors. After years in the making, the Caribbean Journey, part of the original vision, opened its doors in 2017. The Caribbean Journey doubles the size of the aquarium and provides homes to an exciting collection of sea and land creatures. It is here that you can break into the mesmerizing secrets of the underwater and jungle world. For those wishing to spend time in an extraordinary place, a promising unforgettable experience awaits.

MISSION

The mission of the Texas State Aquarium is to engage people with animals, inspire appreciation for our seas, and support wildlife conservation.

VISION

To be a global leader in fostering support for the conservation of the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.

The Caesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute at Texas A&M University-Kingsville is the leading wildlife research organization in Texas and one of the finest in the nation. Established in 1981 by a grant from the Caesar Kleberg Foundation for Wildlife Conservation, the Institute operates as a nonprofit organization and depends financially upon private contributions and faculty grantsmanship. Our mission is to provide science-based information for enhancing the conservation and management of Texas wildlife.

As C.L. Douglas described in Cattle Kings of Texas (1989), South Texas is "…a land of mesquite and sand; of prickly pear and chaparral; of clouds and sea and sky; of vaqueros and cattle." We might add it is also the land of 625 species, including 34 amphibians, 409 birds, 80 mammals and 102 reptiles. Nearly seventy percent of all vertebrates in Texas occur in South Texas. In fact, the South Texas brush country and the near pristine Laguna Madre contain the last great wildlife habitat remaining in Texas.
